Having raced using a Peter Burgess built Siamese head engine which gave me the Club Championship in 2002, I decided to build a crossflow engine using an MSX Alloy head. This since the PB engine was in need of a rebuild and I might as well do something interesting.
The resulting engine was built using the best components and parts. Target BHP was 160 and it met or exceeded this target, with an estimated 165 bhp on the flywheel. It runs very smooth and strong and will rev until it blows up. I only rev it to 7000rpm, since I want to "be kind" with my stuff :).
This engine is now for sale. Pictures of the engine, whilst it was built, and the components that went in it are here below. NOTE: The head shown in these pictures is an original HRG Derrington from 1962. It is NOT for sale. the engine now has a brand new MSX head instead. A Full list of components is below the pictures.
Peter Burgess wedged, lightened and balanced crank 020 undersize.
Hepolite pistons +020 oversize.
MSX Crossflow head with new valves, springs and alloy retainers.
New MSX Crossflow inlet manifold for dual Weber DCOE.
Special high-lift crossflow camshaft.
Roller-tip rockers.
Tubular pushrods, chrome-moly, Iskenderian.
Alloy backplate
Alloy flywheel, Fidanza.
New Gear Reduction starter, Nippon Denso.
High-pressure main and rod bearings in tri-metal.
New camshaft bearings
Fixed cam gear with offset key. Lobe centre @ 103, for more low-end torque.
I am asking $4.500 for the engine, minus the carburetors (Weber 45 DCOE). That does not even cover the price of the components. I can also take off any item you would not want, like the backplate, flywheel, rockers, etc. This will obviously reduce the price.
